From
gathering wild flowers as a child to working within my present garden
for the past 12 years, I have always felt a pull to get my hands dirty
and 'create' within the natural setting. Garden Artscapes began in
1997, motivated by a need to find a statue or something to symbolize
the death and life of my beloved Grandmother who had died the previous
year. Unable to find what my inner thoughts and feelings wanted
ignited the thought of bringing into reality a store which would offer
unique and artistic pieces, items which portray meaning and are made
by local and regional individuals.
Today Garden Artscapes works with over 20 artists, many of whom
have become good friends and trusted acquaintances. I truly appreciate
each individual's integrity of creative artistry as well as quality. I
work to represent and promote their work as well as work in
partnership towards product development of my ideas or ideas and needs
which my customers request. Many artists are more than happy to also
do custom work for one's unique setting, area or need.
In addition to the artistic pieces, my explorations and travels
take me around the Northwest and to England on buying trips where I
bring back vintage and antique accessories. These pieces are
truly one-of-a kind. And while somewhat more expensive than the newer
items, they are truly exquisite and "works-of-art" in the
garden setting.

Gardens enchant and delight us because they represent through
symbolic form, feelings, thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and spiritual
connections. Poets and philosophers, artists and those with
imagination have throughout history and within all cultures, transcribed
the 'unlanguable' into form and substance. For us, the gardener, it is
within the garden where we are allowed to be the creative artist; to
utilize the forms of earth and water, plants and rock, and of course,
garden art, as our mediums of expression.
